Laupahoehoe Train Museum
36-2377 Mamalahoa Highway, Laupahoehoe, Big Island, Hawaii
This quaint museum housed in a former station agent’s home (preserved in its original Edwardian style) is a labor of love by history/train enthusiasts and community members who take pride in their local heritage. At the Laupahoehoe Train Museum, you’ll learn about the sugar cane industry and the trains that transported the sweet stuff across the Big Island through film, photos, old maps, and a host of all sorts of fascinating memorabilia. There are also toy trains to entertain the kiddies (and the young at heart) and a charming gift shop where you can pick up some unique souvenirs of your visit.
