Mauna Kea Beach
Mauna Kea Beach Drive, Waimea, Big Island, Hawaii
Mauna Kea is considered by many to be one of the Big Island’s best and, oftentimes, least crowded beaches. There’s just one catch—parking is limited and by permit only. To ensure that you get in, arrive early in the morning to nab a coveted spot. Once in, you’ll trek through the grounds of the Mauna Kea Hotel and Resort and down a slope to enjoy the beach’s soft white sands and clear, gentle waters—perfect for snorkeling or for a serene swim. Restroom and shower facilities are available on site, and if you’re hungry, you can grab a tasty bite to eat at the nearby resort.
