Anini Beach County Park
3663 Anini Road, Kilauea, Kauai, Hawaii

Funny but true—this beach was once named Wanini until the “W” fell off the sign. In typical island fashion, the locals didn’t sweat it, figuring it was easier to change the name than to change the sign. Anini Beach was thus christened. By any name, Anini Beach’s shallow, calm waters and convenient access to shower and toilet facilities make it perfect for an all-ages family outing. A coral reef (Hawaii’s largest) protects the shore from big surf, making it a popular spot for windsurfing, swimming, and paddling. Visitors appear evenly divided on whether or not Anini is a good location for snorkeling, so you’ll just have to grab your gear and decide for yourself.
