Baldwin Home Museum
120 Dickenson Street, Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii
Built in 1835, this former home of Reverend Dwight Baldwin has been lovingly and faithfully restored to its original former glory. Baldwin was not only a man of faith, but he was a practicing physician who heroically helped to save the residents of Molokai, Lanai, and Maui from the devastating smallpox epidemic of 1853. He was also commited to educating the native peoples about the western democratic system as well as how to read and write in both Hawaiian and English. Today, Bailey’s legacy lives on this quaint museum featuring original home furnishings, photographs, and artifacts from that fascinating and eventful era of Maui history.
