Hawaii's Plantation Village
94-695 Waipahu Street, Waipahu, Oahu, Hawaii
Plantation Village is a truly fascinating and fun living history museum that allows you to travel back in time to tour a (faithfully re-created) sugar plantation village circa 1850 - 1950. Step inside the “homes” of sugar plantation workers, many of who immigrated to Hawaii from China, Korea, the Philippines, Japan, Portugal, and Korea among other countries, and see how they kept their native traditions alive within the village. During the tour, you’ll even get to sample exotic fruits from the multicultural gardens similar to those kept by original plantation workers. Aside from the homes, you’ll also get a fascinating glimpse inside re-created community buildings like a plantation store, infirmary, and bathhouse.
