Polynesian Culture Center
55-370 Kamehameha Highway, Laie, Oahu, Hawaii
One of the biggest tourist attractions in Oahu, the Polynesian Culture Center is a culturally-themed amusement park featuring simulated Polynesian villages, arts and crafts demonstrations, artistic performances, an IMAX theater, and a lagoon with paddle canoes. However, the most well-known attractions are the luau and nightly spectacular stage show featuring Polynesian music and dance. As thoroughly entertaining as these experiences may be, the culture center has been described by some as too “Disney-fied” for its relatively high cost as well as its westernized leanings. The luau buffet, for example, does not include many of the traditional food items from the Pacific. Still, the center provides plenty of fun and wholesome activities making it a worthwhile stop if you’re looking for a family friendly spot and can afford to splurge.
